Miranda Loos, Business Development Specialist for CIL

In my role as Business Development Specialist for the Robertson Center for Intercultural Leadership (CIL), I’m thrilled to lead the goal of expanding our reach to a wider community, one that surpasses the Berkeley borders. CIL facilitates a deeper level of understanding of cultural differences, equipping our residents, Berkeley staff, and students with intercultural leadership skills—skills that they can take with them throughout their lives and careers.

Over the past year, CIL has taken on various initiatives to enhance intercultural learning for students, staff, and faculty such as: Fulbright Re-entry Seminar; Peer to Career; the Intercultural Leadership Institute; and the Xiangfei Leadership and Innovation Program.

Along with these incredible programs, I’m excited to announce the launch of our new CIL website at cil.berkeley.edu.

I encourage you to visit the website, sign up for CIL updates, and share your knowledge of our programs to those in your network. Feel free to reach out to me directly to share your ideas, suggestions, and experiences, mloos@berkeley.edu.

My background

My journey in the International Education field started in 2004 when I had my first post-grad job as an English language instructor in Japan.  The exciting, yet oftentimes challenging, interactions I had taught me about myself and about a culture very different from my own.  It piqued my interest and passion in travel and learning about new cultures.  I started to recognize the importance of these intercultural interactions, which motivated me to pursue a graduate degree in International Education at NYU.  As former director of an international school in NYC and manager of university partnerships for a global internship organization here in SF, I’ve turned a passion into my career. I’m honored to bring those experiences here and to continue to expand the mission and reach of International House.
